The first "Shut Up And Listen" show for February is looking good. Heavy hitter Zack DuPont is stopping by for the show, and he comes with some serious street-cred. Hailing from Vermont, he has backed up bands like Grace Potter and The Nocturnals and has been compared vocally to the likes of Ray LaMontagne, the late great John Martyn, and early David Crosby.

Awww yeah. It's on like Donkey Kong! Tomorrow night's show is packed and stacked...but it's gonna be a bit of a twist. "Again?" you say..and yes..again. Tomorrow night may be the only night this show ever covers..COVERS!

It's Wednesday night at 8pm, and Lyd and Joy are in the basement working out the subtleties of the really obscure songs they are doing. If it sounds tomorrow night like it sounds right now, bring a hankie..cuz it's so good you may just cry. Frank Lapinski and Mark dantzer don't even need to practice as they are just that good. SXSW Artist Anna Zoe Coming To "Shut Up & Listen!"

The pleasant e-mail landed yesterday. Erie, PA born musician Anna Zoe (now living in NYC)will be on stage at the crazy-busy South By Southwest music festival in Texas in March of this year. She contacted Lyd to see if she could swing by either on the way TO, or coming back FROM the festival. It seems that she and Lyd have some similarities in their early music career paths, and that should make for a great series of interview question for the evening's "Shut Up And Listen" show at Brothers Drake Meadery.

Anna Zoe's website (www.annazoe.com) describes her as "...an independent singer/songwriter originally from Erie, PA whose music sounds like Tori Amos having dinner with Coldplay, and meeting Death Cab For Cutie for drinks. My first full-length album "Friction In Some Direction" was released on June 27, 2011, with plans to tour in early 2012.

I am a complete DIY artist, which means I don't have anyone else paying, booking, managing, uploading, organizing, promoting, marketing, or shipping for me. What you see is what you get and what you get is full of the greatest love and appreciation from me."

Local newswoman Maria Durant asked Lydia to play their Pelotonia fundraiser, "Pedal InStile" back in August. The fine folks at Columbus Monthly Magazine did a nice little write up on the night's activities for their November issue, including an hour long set from the lovely and talented Lydia Brownfield.
The event was designed to earn money for Maria's fundraising team for Pelotonia, and did just that!

BTW...The event netted over TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS for the James Cancer Center!

**Lydia Brownfield was a frequent face in 99X magazine in Atlanta in the 90's, and is still found amongst the articles of Atlanta InTown Magazine!**

It's wierd how things work sometimes. Lyd had a call hit late Monday night from Daerdre at Brothers Drake Meadery, asking for confirmation from Lyd that she was playing a show next week on Wednesday. Puzzled, Lyd checked her calendar and said she knew nothing of it, but would gladly play anyway. As it turns out, there is a local film maker who has produced a movie about the travels and music of the great songwriter Peter Case. We found that out after we looked up the show Lyd was asked to play.

Funny thing is, Lydia and Peter were '90's "Cabbage Town Heroes" in the Atlanta music scene, having played a number of shows together at venues like Eddie's Attic. I have been waiting for this one for a looong time. The stories that you may (or may not, we'll see) hear come out from the interviews and song discussions this Thursday night will likely seal the deal and make you a "SUAL" fan for life. Three very different guests, all women, all songwriters from completely separate ends of the musical spectrum. Za Unitt, who's birthday is that night, is pregnant with her sixth child. She has been in bands in Columbus as long as anyone can remember..and speaking of remembering..Lyd recognized her a few years ago at an open mic as someone she used to attend acting school with! Za has played in bands like Za's Pawn Shop Special, and currently plays under the band "Za Unitt & The Angry Men."

**Za is a hardworking artist and actress, who's face you likely have seen in commercials!**

Bree Frick has been playing stringed instruments forever it seems. As a member of Columbus' folk darling band, "The Salty Caramels" Bree has also been a part of "Matt Monta and The Hot Coal Band," "Sweet & Lonesome" and others. John Ross of Columbus Alive wrote "Dressed like Patsy Cline and sounding just as tough, songwriter(s)...Bree Frick...combine for sweet melodies and a bale of heart-wrenching stories told through song. This is country with spunk, where the talent outweighs the twang."

Lydia first met Molly Wagner inside the old Victorian's Midnite Cafe. Her quiet but deeply moving vocals have the ability to quiet a room in a heartbeat. Molly plays all over Columbus, and has been featured with Lydia at various shows around town. These three ladies will be singing and discussing the lives that created the songs this Thursday, hosted by the lovely Ludia Brownfield at Brothers Drake Meadery, where original music reigns supreme.

Lydia Brownfield has been writing music for a long time. Lydia will be out beyond the Dayton area on Wednesday night to play a show at world famous Taffy's night club! The venue has seen the likes of John Lee Hooker, Blues legend and Grammy winner John Hammond, and scores of other musical greats. Located in the town of Eaton, Ohio, Taffy's is about ten miles due west out of Dayton, along route 35. Lydia Brownfield Live at The Talon Title Celebrity Luncheon.

*Lydia hams it up with ABC news reporter Johnny DiLoretto and WBNS TV's Angela An for today's auction.

Lyd's day was reasonably busy as far as normal human days go. Up and out with Luka's need to get to second grade on time, she was on the road to Polaris by 8a.m. With a quick dash to the office, she was only able to stay for about two hours before racing back to the city center to be one of the guests asked to attend the Talon Title Celebrity Luncheon cancer benefit.

She had a bout an hour total time to hang out and sing, then walk the room with other Columbus do-gooders like Angela An, Johnny DiLoretto, "Buckeye Guy" and many more. Set in the opulent OSU Student Union Performing Arts room, the "Green Room" in back (not green, BTDubs) was replete with the bustle of people you see in the local papers and news cameras. All patiently waiting in line to step on stage when called up, the mood was quite jovial. Lyd, Angela and Johnny led the way in the "make funny faces" department.

They all had aprons with their names, so patrons would be able to more easily identify each one of them. Lydia is pictured above in the Green Room autographing a few aprons designated for the auction. After a certain length of time..and a few beers (hello there beer!), they were tasked with mingling amongst the crowd and selling bead necklaces..thankfully none of the real estate agents in attendance felt compelled to show their chest for beads..they just had to pay with cash donations.

Angela and Lydia are prepared to show Girl Scouts how things are done. Macaroons my ass, these ladies are about to set the record for beaded necklace sales. They had to be quick, as OSU athletic greats were also on hand, and fisticuffs were not out of the question.

Lydia and Johnny first met at this years Pedal In Stile fundraiser, where Lydia was on hand as the live entertainment. Johnny was the M.C. for the evening, alongside the lovely Maria Durant and Madeleine Jo Wharton. The guy is hilarious, you have no idea.

Let the bead selling begin!

Once the bead selling was done, Lyd went up and got to work. It's always fun to watch the attendees' faces when Lyd separates her lips and that room-filling voice begins to flow out. Nobody can believe that such a tiny woman could possess such an enormous range. I love that.

After she raced off stage, it was time to fly north again to finish out the day at her office. "But wait, there's more!" As if it wasn'y hectic enough..Lydias' new show "Shut Up & Listen" goes off again tonight at Brother's Drake Meadery!

Tires will likely be alight as she power-brakes it into the parking lot just in time for the 8p.m. show. Don't miss what will quickly become the #1 songwriter showcase in Columbus!

The first episode of "Shut Up & Listen" lands next Thursday night at Brothers Drake Meadery in Columbus, Ohio. Hosted by Lydia Brownfield the show series will feature songwriters from all over the U.S., and many of the fine folks right here in Columbus. The demand for a Listening Room format must be fairly high. Once Lyd put the word out that she was doing this, she had so many people contact her about available dates, the series is completely BOOKED all the way out to February! The very first guest act for "Shut Up & Listen" will be local songwriter Crag James Ackerman. Craig has his own show series that runs monthly at The Shrunken Head, and features a variety of local music.

If you aren't familiar with a Listening Room format, it's quite simple...no cel phone conversations, no chit-chat. It's an intimate evening with the songwriters where you get to understand the experiences that led to the songs. It makes for a great night of music, and you'll get to leave KNOWING the words to the songs..because you actually HEARD the songs! This year's "This, That The Other" reader poll from Columbus magazine The Other Paper hit store shelves yesterday. Among the many categories and questions was a choice to be made between local girl fronted groups The Phantods, and Wet Darlings. Anyone else would have to be written in to get a vote. POW! The issue landed yesterday and had two names that had been written in enough that they were added to the list! Lydia Brownfield was among those written in..to a band category..and she rarely even gets to play with the band! That says a lot about the band when they do get together..and hopefully a lot about Lyd's songwriting/vocal skills. Pick up a copy of The Other paper today and see if someone else you know is mentioned in the reader poll!

Lydia woke up late on the morning of September 11th, 2001. A late night gig meant the alarm in her Brooklyn apartment would go wholly unnoticed. By the time she had raced to the station, her normal subway train was fifteen minutes down the track. Lydia would board the next train, expecting to stop below Tower #2 (her normal stop). With hundreds of friends and clients working inside that building (most at a massive bank conglomerate), she always saw someone at the coffee shop on the ground floor. As the train jostled below the streets, it came to a stop two blocks short of it's typical destination. As people exited, it seemed unusually panicked. Throngs of dusty and confused people were coming down into the subway as quickly as the commuters were trying to get out.

Once hitting daylight, chaos was in full swing. Choking particles of smoke and paper filled the air..then a rumble..Lyd looked up just in time to see Tower #2 collapse. Police began to demand that everyone move north immediately. Lydia would be in China Town before long..still having no idea what was happening, and getting barraged by Chinese-speaking people presumably asking her what was going on. She continued to move north, at some point realizing she was at 116th Street. No cel phone service. Living clear back down across the river...in Park Slope..she was a long way from help. The next two days would be spent at a friend's place, who was luckily home at the time. She found out that everyone on board her normal train died. She also found out that every one of the folks at the bank died as well..the entire floor...the entire company was gone. It was such a sobering experience, she decided to give up music and look for a more traditional life path. That was a Tuesday. By the following Monday Lydia would be back home in Columbus..in a classrooom..at CCAD.

Lydia wrote "Fiery Crash" in the days following the attack, before leaving for Columbus.

Saturday will be a busy one around the Brownfield-Sharp homestead. Lyd will be up and out early to play for the shoppers attending the Grandview Farmer's Market first. Stop by and visit the local organic farmers, and talk to them about the produce they are delivering to you from farm to table! How often do you get to discuss the product you are putting in your body with the people who actually pulled it out of the ground? Exactly. The market runs from 10a.m. to 1p.m., and sits next to Figlio/Vino Vino.

Later that evening, the much anticipated Schiller Park showdown! Bring a chair, some food, and a toga...because Lyd is taking the stage by 7p.m. to rock your faces off for the opening act of Actor's Theatre of Columbus' rendition of the Sophocles classic, "Oedipus Rex." FAM JAM 2011 With Lydia Brownfield

The week had been busier than Lyd and I's bodies could handle. Between work, Lyd's show/media schedule and my events schedule..neither of us were overjoyed to get up at 6:30a.m. yesterday. That was due in large part to her show with the Devil Doves the night before at Brothers Drake Meadery not getting us home until 1:30a.m. The 4a.m. wake-up call Monday to get to the morning's live spots on ABC with Maria Durant proved a precursor to the week's work, not ending until about 11p.m. Monday night. The event alone was a close call on Wednesday night, with both of us barely getting off work in time to arrive and set up. Yesterday's event was different, though...even though it was along the same lines as Wednesday's Pelotonia fundraiser. Saturday's event was for Mayor Coleman's Neighborhood Pride Program, which we are both deeply involved with.

Lyd will be entering her third straight year as the program's Celebrity Singing Coach/Judge for the Talent Search. They asked her to play on the enormous stage (only act to do so, which was kinda cool!) for the day, and she had just enough time between set up and tear down to come see me at the booth where Bruce Black and I were handing out FOUR HUNDRED HELMETS to the kids and parents in attendance...all free and provided by the City Of Columbus' Neighborhood Pride Program. Love that!

Lyd garnered lots of buzz around the Electra Townie 7d bike provided by roll: bikes for the day. roll: was on hand as the bike shop support for the Bike Safety portion of Neighborhood Pride, reaching out to the communities they serve to get donated kids bikes for the program to use. Visiting inner city schools, Bruce and the program spend a day teaching kids how to use their new helmets, use hand signals, rules of the road etc.

The fire fighter pictured was reluctant to sit on the Townie, for fear that she might be hazed by her co-workers..but they already actually own Townies, so no harm, no foul! That bike was almost as popular as the free custard, hot dogs, fruit and drinks provided by Franklin County Children's Services!

It's official! Lyd has just been confirmed to play on Saturday, August 27th at 7p.m. for the Actor's Theatre Of Columbus' presentation of "Oedipus Rex!"

The performances go down inside German Village, at the beautiful outdoor setting of Schiller Park. "Oedipus Rex" is Sophocles' tragic story of a boy taken from his family and told his future, which inadvertently comes to fruition. It is a twisted tale for sure...as are many of Lydia's song lyrics! :)

Billy was praised by The Other Paper's music critic John Petric "... Billy Zenn had such a rich and lustrous set of pipes and a pop/soul/rock songwriting knack second to no one I know locally... it may have been the most unexpected and best night of local music I've heard in my entire life."

Friday nights on Park Street can be busy. Friday nights at Gaswerks are busy, with a side order of HOLY CRAP LOOK AT THAT! Friday nights are "BIKE NITES" at Gaswerks, and the hardware found lining Park Street is pretty serious. Also serious is Lydia Brownfield..just serious about music!

Lyd sprinkles a nice blend of amazing original music in with some solid classic covers, like Johhny Cash, Carol King, and Concrete Blonde! She's had to learn to play covers while here in Columbus, so be patient..if she doesn't know the one your asking for..she'll learn it. Just be sure not to yell out "FREEBIRD!" You'll likely stare directly into angry eyes and two well-positioned middle digits.

The crowd was very subdued until the first couple of drinks settled in..then POW! instant party. The happy bikers began to get into the swing of things, singing along and cheering loudly at each passing offering. The sponsoring Harley dealer even has a serious Fat Boy-Lo they are raffling off for the patrons throughout the season....and that's just bad ass.

Be damn sure to ride your two-wheeled behemoth out again next Friday for another night of bikes, booze and boobs (OK, maybe not so much the latter..but who knows?)and be sure to listen to Lydia Brownfield as she proceeds to rock your faces off! Show starts at 5 and runs until 8pm.

Don't forget! After Gaswerks, Lydia has to hustle over and belt it out again at VICTORY's in the Brewery District by 10pm for The Olde Souls show! It's gonna be a looong night, better pour a tall glass.

Mark Dantzer & Buzz are the Dynamic Duo of Thursday nights. Located inside the cavernous bar area in Grandview's Brazenhead Pub, they take over from 7 to 9pm with a live game show wherein the guests can win fabulous prizes, just for guessing the names of various small song snippets! Add beer and stir, and you have a damn fun time.

Lydia Brownfield was in the hizzouse last night, becoming the first live musician ever to help in the game. Mark has been wanting to incorporate local musicians for some time, and for a first test-run of the new format, I'd say it went quite well.

With all the patrons singing along, clapping and otherwise enjoying themselves..the live music added a stellar element to the show.

Fellow cyclists and neighborhood friends stopped by for the show, and really were amazed by Lydia's pipes!

Leaving at 9a.m. Monday morning, the six hour drive down to Nashville was quick. Large barns distracting the needed attention of truck drivers with threats of eternal damnation dot the landscape along the route through Kentucky and Tennessee. I haven't been to Nashville since I was about 16, and Lyd hadn't been there since she and "Long Flat Red" had been on tour in the area and she had played The Bluebird Cafe.

Arriving at 3p.m., we checked in to our lavish hotel room in the boutique downtown Hotel Indigo, just three blocks from Broadway. All of Nashville seems to rely on the Honky-Tonks that dot this short entertainment district. Luckily for us, the weekend throngs had long since left town, and we were able to enjoy the amazing hospitality of the local club owners and retailers in the area. Even the shoe stores had a small stage and mic-stand...everyone was very supportive of even the most novice of singer/songwriters.

Make no mistake...Nashville is most decidedly not the place to visit if you aren't in to country, bluegrass, or west coast swing music. Kanye would go over like a turd in a well here, as would most other types of music. That's what I like about Nashville, it's true to it's roots.

Old record stores dotted the landscape, and even the shop clerks have music industry resumes that would beg you to ask for their autograph. Wearing an old Chris Isaac concert shirt, a seventy year old woman inside Tubb's record shop said she had the chance to meet him..right where I was standing..and he was the nicest man she had ever met. Then she went back to work.

Honky-Tonks like Robert's are much the same. Open until 3a.m. on week nights, the house band members had a music rap sheet that spanned 82 years and had ties to just about very man, woman and child that ever succeeded in Opryland U.S.A. Various forms of Elvii were everywhere, like this one watching over the passers by from atop a local storefront. Apparently, Johny Cash is the Mayor of Nashville. Everyone has some story or photo of him in their stores or on their bodies.

Lydia was so inspired by the camaraderie in such a huge market, she decided to play her sets on Wednesday night using all country songs, and in a straw hat to give a nod to Nashville.

If you are looking for a new hat, or boots..you would have to be crazy not to find it here. Rows and rows of hats and boots made from every imaginable form of animal carcass. I think I may have actually seen boots made from the foreskin of Pygmy Javan Rhynos, but I'm not sure.

PBR was not nearly as prevalent in Nashville as it is in Columbus. I often wonder if PBR doesn't actually own the entire city of Columbus! Lydia decided to cozy up to a can inside Roberts while waiting for her show to start.

Pink flamingos aren't just for trailer parks anymore! This one was chillin' out at the bar inside Roberts.

Gruhn's guitar shop had everything. A man was playing a guitar he was looking to buy who had just left the studio where he was recording with Jeff Beck. The guitar he was playing was a vintage Les Paul worth about 100k...seriously.

Flowers were in bloom along the wide sidewalks leading back to our hotel. BBQ pits and food stands were everywhere, and they were all good..trust me.

Lydia was getting excited as 7pm drew closer. Back in our room, Lyd put a new JAYKCO guitar strap on her Martin acoustic to pass the time. The bar was amazing inside The Hotel Indigo, so we went downstairs to grab a drink.

Once in the lobby, the guests began to point and whisper and Lyd sauntered through the lobby with her guitar. They looked her up on the web, and all agreed to stay for her show. That was, of course, until we found out that she was supposed to be playing at the OTHER Hotel Indigo in an hour.

Right before we packed up the car for the short drive to the other hotel, Lyd saw a message from fellow Columbus artist Molly Wagner telling her how much she loved her set at the Shrunken Head last week. It made Lyd feel like she had some love back home, and the resulting glow was hard to disguise.

Arriving a short time later at the RIGHT hotel, we were greeted by yet another very helpful batch of staff that treated the inbound customers with a serious desire to please them and meet their every desire. I can not recommend a place more than the Hotel Indigo, and it was the staff that made the difference. Lauren the sound-girl was VERY good at her job, and seemed genuinely interested in making every song as amazing as possible. Ashley, the hotel's booking person, was equally as accomodating. They are pictured here below talking to Lyd before her set.

After the show, we went out with Columbus ex-pat musicians, Grace Adele and Keenan of "Grace Adele & The Grand Band." They moved to Nashville a year ago to immerse themselves in the genre of music they loved, and it has paid off in spades. Just returning that night from a mini-tour that ended in North Carolina, they hung out with us until it was time to power-down and go to bed.

New Show Added; Shrunken Head With Billy Zenn 5/28!

Last night while hanging out at The Shrunken Head for Billy Zenn's open-mic night, the two musicians went into the side-room so they could quietly discuss a show or two. Set for may 28th, this just-added show will feature only Lydia and Billy playing a much more intimate solo acoustic night. Mrs. Brownfield will be fresh off the triple-show weekend in Atlanta, and will be looking forward to being back home and playing to friends and neighbors.

Billy Zenn is the namesake behind "Billy Zenn & The Ringers" and is the open-mic chairman at the Sh'ead. The last time these two played a longer show together was for the Grandview Fire Benefit a couple of years ago. If you haven't seen Billy play (is that possible?) you should, because he's kinda the guy who brings 100% whether he is playing to one person, or one thousand.

AHNY is a lo-fi compilation disc, taken from old live recordings (many of them from 8mm tape) that really have that "retro" feel to them. Neighborhood Pride & Holiday Show Pix!

**"Trouble With Brownfield" wasn't in any trouble at all Thursday night.

The Holiday Show at Ruby Tuesday featured some stellar Columbus musicians. With a line up that included The Revelators, Sons Of The West, and Lydia Brownfield's "Trouble With Brownfield" it was destined for greatness. Lyd's band has some of the most accomplished musicians/singers available. With the vocal talents of Joy Keller, the multi-talented Jeff Tobin, and drummer Frank Lapinski all on task Thursday night I couldn't wait for this thing to get started.

The first band up was the always awesome Revelators. These guys always bring some of the best songwriting/tightest band playing around...despite the fact that they all had the flu/cold/Dengue Fever that night. We hadn't seen or played with those guys in some time, and it was great to hear them again.

Some familiar faces were on the scene that night, like artist/writer Megan Burkholder and her hubby! It's a rare happening to see them both out together, since they are both busy as all hell. By 10:30, the Revelators were finishing up, and Trouble With Brownfield began tuning everything in.

Janie Purvis and her husband drove out and spent their evening with the three bands as well. He's deploying to Iraq this week, and it was a great chance to meet him before he ships out again.

All three bands got together to start the show with a cover called "Portland, Oregon." Nobody had gotten together to practice it, so it was pretty damn funny to watch. The rest of the night would be one of the best nights of music I have seen in three years here in Cbus.

The Ruby Tuesday staff had their work cut out for them that night, as the place was packed with thirsty masses dancing around on the wooden floor in front of the stage. These two worked their asses off, and were as pleasant as could be.

The previous night, Mayor Coleman (pictured below, with Lydia Brownfield) was to spend his evening with his pet project, the Neighborhood Pride Talent Search. This program was once again assisted by Lydia, utilizing her music experience to help the kids involved hone their skills and be the best singers possible. This show is the culmination of weeks of hard work by these kids, and is always a very pleasant evening out at the King Arts Complex.

The after party was a great place to relax and talk to the participants about the program..and for the parents to meet with the Mayor face to face! Several area businesses donated time and product to the event.

The man with the plan, Bruce Black actually coordinates the whole program for the Mayor. If you have ever wondered if any good came out of city government, you only have to look to Bruce to confirm that it does. This program does wonders for these kids' self esteem, and proves that hard work yields positive results. Below, Bruce is seen watching like the Wizard Of Oz behind the curtain.

Dancing so fast the camera couldn't capture it, the kids had excellent instruction in this field as well. This year's show was the best I have seen so far!

This girl stood up and belted out Lady Gaga without any musical accompaniment at all...even without her mic being turned on you could hear her all the way to the back row. I'm not sure most folks even knew her mic was dead!

Mayor Coleman touches the rock. This rock comes from his front yard each year, and by tradition all performers must touch the sacred stone before taking the stage. This is a great tradition, and one that the kids believe in one hundred percent.

These kids are all waiting to do their thing in "the green room." Coming from all over the city, they quickly formed bonds that will hopefully last for the rest of their lives.

Lydia Live In Westerville Tonight!

Lydia will be racing out to Westerville's "Java Central" at 20 South State Street tonight to play for a while with Mike Lemble and a fabulous horn player. It's a new arrangement, but I am excited to hear some brass back in the songs for the night! After a stellar band practice session last night in preparation for the Holiday Show at Ruby Tuesday on the 23rd, this will be a good way to change it up a bit and have some fun.

Lydia Brownfield On MIX 107 Radio With Mark Dantzer!

I just left the coffee shop (Luck Brothers) where I have been in deep discussions about all things radio with MIX 107's on-air personality Mark Dantzer. Turns out, Mark is a musician himself who has traveled all over the U.S. playing! He also has a great D.J. business here in Columbus, and is very in to bikes as well. That seems to work out just fine, since that's exactly what Lydia likes to do! O.K., so she's not a D.J. at all, but the rest of it seems pretty close.

So here's the deal. Lydia Brownfield is set to arrive in the MIX 107 (that's 107.9 on the dial) studio next week (I'm keeping the day secret) for an on-air interview with Mark Dantzer! How frikkin cool is that? I have given him some sneaky questions to ask her, and I'm looking forward to hearing the answers on the radio. She'll be playing a little bit, too I think during the segment! I hope this pod-casted for future listens. ANYHOW, tune in to Mark Dantzer on MIX 107 Radio next week, his segment runs from 6 to 10 a.m.

After an early drive from Columbus (we left at 5a.m.), we rolled in to Norcross, Georgia about 2p.m. Having lunch with Lyd's father and Eve, we ran waited for the arrival of former "Yonder" drummer Mirko Soko to arrive from Florida. Hanging out with a few bottles of wine (hey..we were thirsty, ok?) and eating some fresh grilled lamb and garden veggies, the two got to work setting up their equipment in Eve's living room for practice.

The next morning, after breakfast they rolled into about three hour run-through of the evening's show. Before long, it was time to pack it in and head downtown. With a short stop in Virginia Highlands at Surin Of Thailand for some vittles, Lydia was close enough to walk down to The Highland Inn and check out a great local band that was setting up for their night's show.

A short drive to Eddie's Attic in Decatur allowed Lydia Brownfield to deliver the new show posters for the April 16th gig there (another show has been added for the 15th, details soon).

Racing across town via the emerging "Cabbagetown" neighborhood of Atlanta's near-west side, we arrived at The Music Room. With a staff always eager to please, Lyd and Mirko set up and prepped for sound check. As people began pouring in, we some some faces we hadn't seen in a loooong time, and even some former "Long Flat Red" band mates (like Eric) came out to listen in.

After the show was over, a few glasses of wine materialized and everyone had a great time. The drive home was energetic and fun, and Lyd/Mirko had a great night. Thanks to everyone who came out Saturday night, and look for another date there in April!

This was Lydia Brownfield circa '92 taking a short breather during an historic set at famed Atlanta area hotspot, Eddie's Attic. She will be returning there for another great night in April 2011!

This is Lydia today. With a collection of songs deeper than the Mariana Trench, Lyd will come back to the stage that launched her and hundreds of other great songwriter and musicians careers. The poster will be up inside the narrow staircase leading to the second floor stage by Saturday.

On a recent stop for a show in Decatur at Kavarna, Lyd popped in to Eddie's Attic to belt out an open-mic contest and killed it. The girl still has it...
