The first episode of "Shut Up & Listen" lands next Thursday night at Brothers Drake Meadery in Columbus, Ohio. Hosted by Lydia Brownfield the show series will feature songwriters from all over the U.S., and many of the fine folks right here in Columbus. The demand for a Listening Room format must be fairly high. Once Lyd put the word out that she was doing this, she had so many people contact her about available dates, the series is completely BOOKED all the way out to February! The very first guest act for "Shut Up & Listen" will be local songwriter Crag James Ackerman. Craig has his own show series that runs monthly at The Shrunken Head, and features a variety of local music.
If you aren't familiar with a Listening Room format, it's quite simple...no cel phone conversations, no chit-chat. It's an intimate evening with the songwriters where you get to understand the experiences that led to the songs. It makes for a great night of music, and you'll get to leave KNOWING the words to the songs..because you actually HEARD the songs! No more "Hold me closer, Tony Danza" mistakes while lip-singing in the car at the stoplight. Be sure to stop by between 8 and 10pm to Brothers Drake Meadery in the Short North for opening night! Shows run every first and third Thursday, 8 to 10.
